Trawl is a recipe management app. Your privacy matters — here is what data we handle and why.
Trawl uses Sign In with Apple. We receive a unique, anonymous user identifier and, if you choose to share it, your email address. We do not receive your Apple ID password.
Our backend records anonymous usage metrics for AI processing requests: your anonymous user ID, the AI model used, token counts, and cost. This helps us manage service costs. We do not track your browsing behavior, your recipes, or personal information.
Trawl uses Sentry to record crashes, errors, and performance diagnostics so we can fix problems. These reports contain technical information (device model, OS version, stack traces, and timing) and are not tied to your identity — no personally identifying information is attached. This data is used only to keep the app stable and is never used for advertising or behavioral profiling. See the Sentry Privacy Policy.
To improve scan quality, the app also sends anonymous scan-quality telemetry to our own backend: which processing path a scanned page took, timing and quality statistics, and individual words our on-device text recognizer did not know. These reports are not linked to your account, and they never include your recipes, full page text, or images. The unrecognized words feed a shared dictionary that makes text recognition better for everyone.
Your recipe data lives on your device and in your iCloud account — you control it. Usage metrics on our backend are retained for billing purposes and may be deleted upon request. Scan-quality telemetry is retained only in aggregate and contains nothing that identifies you.
You can delete your data at any time by removing recipes within the app or by deleting the app (which removes local data). To request deletion of backend usage records, contact us at the address below.
